IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, September 2, 2021
(Toronto, ON) On Monday, August 30, 2021 residents held a press conference to address neglected concerns about the undignified care, upkeep and treatment from landlords and delayed or no actions from the various levels of government.
Age old issues such as housing, underdeveloped infrastructures, property management and maintenance issues, ranging from pests to no proper garbage chutes for recycling, compost and refuse – contributing to the large waste problems in the environment.
The city streets are lined many times with garbage and food packaging from store bought products.
Homelessness is a great issue in underserved communities with those who are homeless asking for real answers for those who want to change.
After months of requesting assistance for a residents association, as well in person places to meet as residents and met with no response, a notice was posted Friday, August 27, 2021 to notify residents of a meeting, when all the signs for the meeting were removed in an attempt to prevent the residents from meeting.
Because the property is privately owned, and lobbies the government, residents in underserved communities are in between two powers that chose not to move or budge on underserved resident concerns.
The city says it can’t do anything because the building owners are private. The not-for-profits, the courts and other agencies are more than familiar with the practices of some of these property managers but allow it to continue. Why?
Politics.
With homelessness and housing constant issues there is always a platform to use for elections.
This time residents says “Enough is enough.”
They are ready for politicians that can actually benefit society and the right reset of society outside of their global plans that cause delays and counterfeit leaders who are giving them just-ice, bread and circuses.
