Founded in 2004 by Georgette and her mom Carol, orders come in faster than Georgette and her mom can bake them! But this sweet tooth duo doesn’t let anything slow them down. “I put 100 per cent positivity and love into everything that I do. When you are passionate about what you do people notice,” says Georgette, co-founder.
Georgette says her favourite part of the business is watching people’s reactions when they first see their cake. “I get goose bumps and sometimes get emotional!” she says.
The company initially began with only loot bags when Georgette grew tired of watching her sons come home from birthday parties with loot bags full of candy and throw away toys. She started making custom loot bags with contents that kids could actually use and enjoy. “Our bags are age and gender specific and consist of educational items, such as books, puzzles and toys kids can enjoy and grow with.”
Eventually customers started asking if the company also provided cakes. That’s where Georgette’s mom, a long time baker came in. “Ever since I can remember my mom has been baking. Cheesecake is my favourite, never mind the pineapple upside down cake and brownies she use to roll out for us. Her carrot cake was famous in our neighbourhood.”
With mom churning out the baked goods, and Georgette coming up with the custom designs, these two are producing world class creations. From the extravagant to the simple, Georgie Porgie has you covered.
